Attorney D. Matthew Edwards
D. Matthew Edwards is experienced in handling all aspects of Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury claims along with Bankruptcy matters for creditors and debtors, Social Security Disability claims, minor criminal offenses and basic estate planning.
He is a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri and prior to beginning his legal career worked as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration for more than six years.
Matt entered private legal practice joining the firm in 2008. He is licensed to practice in the State of Missouri and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Cape Girardeau County Bar, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. In 2014, he was appointed as a member of the panel of Chapter 7 trustees for the Eastern District of Missouri .
Matt is originally from Jackson, Missouri and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in political science from Southeast Missouri State University. He then attended law school at Saint Louis University, graduating magna cum laude in 2005 with an emphasis in criminal litigation. While attending law school, Mr. Edwards served as a clerk for the United States Attorney’s Office in Saint Louis.
Matt resides in Sikeston with his wife, Abbie, and their three children. He enjoys working in the community and is a member of the Cape Noon Lions Club and St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus.
